Jim Crute, Ph.D.

Jim has spent most of his adult life in the biochemistry field doing drug research. Being a homebrewer for upwards of twenty-five years, Jim saw an opportunity to apply his knowledge of biological and chemical processes to the beer trade in a professional setting, and opened the Lightning Brewery in 2006. While owning and operating the brewery is a lot of work, it is also a lot of fun. Jim is grateful for the people who have helped the brewery grow to where it is today.

Scott Linnett

Scott is a 1980 San Diego State University Journalism graduate. During his career as a photographer at the Union-Tribune, he became an avid homebrewer. After retiring from the newspaper business a couple of years ago, Scott began helping with brewery operations. He now works part time at the brewery in charge of "Infrastructure Development". Scott enjoys the many aspects of working at a commercial brewery, and loves to be a part of producing some of San Diego's finest beer!
